Treatment options for Eosinophilic Oesophagitis

a) Budesonide
Children (<10y) – 0.5mg twice a day
Adults – 1mg twice a day (eg 2x Pulmicort Respules 0.5mg/2ml twice a day)

b) Fluticasone
Children (<10y) – 220mcg twice a day
Adults – 440 to 880mcg twice a day

Both should be swallowed (not inhaled) as an accumulation or as an oral viscous slurry by mixing the doses with sucralose (Splenda; ten 1-gram packets, creating a volume of approximately 8 mL).

Patients should wash their mouth out with water directly after ingestion and should avoid eating or drinking for the next 30 minutes.
